The show saturday night at the Gov was fantastic! We were treated to all but one of the tracks from Chimeradour. The most rockin Jeff Lang show I've seen, complete with thrills and spills!

setlist;

Edge Of The light
Things Are Coming Back My Way
Copper Mine
I Don't Like Him Being Here
Big Feeling
Half A Tank Of Hope
Slow Rooms + Fast - Blurred Faces
"you guys ok out there? Your so fucking polite it's unnerving! You guys can hear me change my mind about what to play next."
The Road Is Not Your Only Friend
"somebody has fingered Grant's stool...ahh...that didn't come out right!"
Two Worlds
South
London
The Janitor
Home To You
I Want To Believe
Another One Of Those Days
The Save

Big thanks to Jeff, Grant and Danny for yet another memorable night of music and fun! Much appreciated.

"No pain, no gain. No brain, no pain!"

ps there is a limited edition (500) cd single called Walk Out On St.George's for sale with copies of Chimeradour ($25) available only at the gigs.

DO NOT MISS THIS TOUR!!!!

No probs Myra, will try and get the rest of the show up over the next couple of weeks. All good here. I've been to 3 shows in the last 2 years....this Jeff Lang show and JBT twice. Was meant to kick off this year catching Marva Whitney (she used to feature in James Brown revue shows in the late 60's) but the poor dear had a stroke at the Falls festival....bummer! She's ok and recovering well, so thats great. Breakestra are in oz at the moment, but not coming to Adelaide...damn! The Bamboo's are doing 2 sets at Womad, Djan Djan are playing there also....too expensive for me but...damn!! So, not many shows but making up for it by buying a stack of music! How about yourself?

for some audio from the most recent JBT show I attended click the link below http://www.johnbutlertrio.com/central/v ... 549#p10549

hope Broady & Troy stop by to catch these tunes!

Goody Goody! More songs?! :D I've been enjoying the songs you've already shared with us.. it's great to hear some 'live' Chimeradour tunes.. I anxiously look forward to the rest.

Tried to listen to your JBT links but I couldn't get them to play. I did read your impressive review though.. I'd love to hear Treat Your Mama with the didge! Sounds like the new band is cookin'. Haven't heard any of their stuff yet.

It's kinda been dudsville around here for live shows on my end.. or maybe I'm just getting too picky. I have been buying albums though (some things never change! haha). Broady sent me a link to an article on Jeff Lang where he talks about his interest in African musicians. I picked up 2 of the bands he menioned, Tinariwen (Aman Iman: Water Is Life) and Terakaft (Akh Issudar). Then I did a little digging of my own and discovered Afel Bocoum (Alkibar) <--he started out playing with Ali Farka Toure in the late 60's, and also a Nubian musician by the name of Hamza El Din (A Wish). There is something about this music that lifts my spirit and brings me great inner joy.

So what albums have you bought lately?

I'll put the word out to Broady & Troy to get their tails on over here.

Nice chatting with you Chris.

here's some more...but there's an extra step to d/loading (I don't know why, sendspace keeps changing the links). This will work for the previous links (and the JBT ones too Myra)....

left click on the link and open page in new tab or window. the download link is located on that new page, left click and save as (as per usual).

so here goes, good luck!

Nice recording job Chris! Really lovin' the Chimeradour tracks..I Don't Like Him Being In Here, Slow Rooms and Fast-Blurred Faces, The Janitor and Another One Of Those Days are all faves from the album and they're even better live.

I figured out the download process for JBT too, so I've been enjoying those tracks as well. I think they're releasing a new album soon.. I'll have to watch for that.

If you PM me your address I'll treat you to an Ali Farka Toure album..

And speaking of "funk", Troy and I were having a discussion on Sly and The Family Stone and I just had to hear the song Family Affair! I went over to Amazon and bought the MP3.. Hadn't heard that one in ages, took me back a good 20+ years, still love that song!

Thanks so much for being so generous to us (again)..

Blessings,

Myra

no probs seadog, glad you enjoyed. Do you still do your blues show/blog thing-a-me-bob?

snap Myra...well sort of...the week you grabbed Family Affair, I got a 45 of an instrumental cover version of the same. Just pre-ordered the new Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings album (first hundred are autograped, but the email went out yesterday so I'm pretty sure I'll miss that one), comes with a free 45 with a non-album track on the B-side and the A-side sounds killer! Bamboo's pre-order should be coming any day now too....new JBT the same weekend....what a great month!

So how did Sly come up in conversation? I got a couple of Sly associated thingy's I'm waiting on to show up on my doorstep over the next couple of weeks...amongst a bunch of goodies. His full Woodstock set finally got released last year....along with Janis, Johnny Winter, Santana and Jefferson Airplane...great stuff!!!

cheers for the offer Myra, I'll certainly take you up on that one day. Maybe we can do a funk & farka trade?

chow

oh and sorry for getting off topic, think maybe we should move on to another thread?
